THE MONTH IN REVIEW

October 2026

All 3 lessons from this month, in one place.

Every lesson is a prompt you can copy and use today. No account, nothing to install.

05

Answer the angry message without making it worse

The worst time to write the reply is the minute you read the complaint.

Paste this:

Here is a complaint I received. First tell me what this person actually wants, underneath how they said it. Then write a reply that fixes the problem and sticks to what I know is true.

Angry messages are rarely about what they say they are about. The AI is not wiser than you — it is just not angry, and at 9pm that is worth a lot.

Before you paste: A complaint is someone else’s words about their own life. Take their name, address, account number and anything medical out before it goes anywhere. And if it threatens to sue, mentions an injury, or comes from a lawyer or an agency, close the app and call your own lawyer or insurer — that one is not a writing problem.

06

Read the spreadsheet you have been avoiding

The answer is already in a file you own. You just never knew how to ask it.

Paste this:

Here are my numbers. Do not give me charts yet. Tell me the three things in here that would surprise me, in plain English, and what you would look at next if this were your business.

“No charts yet” is the whole trick. Ask vaguely and you get a wall of graphs that look impressive and say nothing. And anything this turns up about taxes, payroll or a loan is a conversation with your accountant — a person, not a prompt.

Before you paste: The file is yours. The people in it are not. Delete the name, pay, Social Security number and customer-contact columns before pasting — the pattern you are looking for is still there without them.

07

Photograph the page you've been avoiding

Most people never try this one, and it is the one that makes them believe the rest.

Paste this:

Here is a photo of a document. Explain it to me in plain English like I have never seen one before. Tell me what it is asking for, what happens if I ignore it, and the three things I should check before I act on it.

Works on a renewal notice, a form, a bill, a letter from an agency. Take the photo straight down in good light and it will read it.

Before you paste: A photo shows everything on the page. Cover or crop anything you would not read out loud in a waiting room — other people's names, account and ID numbers, medical details — before you take it.
